I don't take a lot of pictures when the kids are sick. Therefore, I don't blog much. Sorry to keep everyone in the dark! It hasn't been the best few weeks in our house. Not terrible, but definitely not fun to take pictures of or write about. Sickness--that's the theme of January. Ick. It all started with me having strep throat the first week back to school after vacation. I only missed one day of school, thank goodness, because little did I know the plague was about to descend upon our house...
Saturday, January 8th brought the beginning of a string of fever and illness for Patrick and Will. We were on the phone with the pediatrician that evening, as Patrick's temp was 104.8. She said to give him ibuprofen and monitor him and call in the a.m. if he still had the fever, which he did. So, we were off to the doc on Sunday morning. Everything checked out fine, but he still had that high fever, so diagnosed him with Roseola, but we wouldn't be sure until the rash appeared. I stayed home Monday, Justin stayed home Tuesday, and I stayed home Wednesday (because, by then, Will had a fever too...low grade, but still a fever). Insert a few trips back and forth to the doctor Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Yikes! Patrick finally broke out in a minor rash on Wednesday. Everyone was back at school/daycare Thursday and Friday that week, and our weekend was relatively healthy, as was the beginning of the week...
Then it started again. Will woke up last Wednesday night with a fever of 104.5 and was shaking and extremely red. Poor guy. So, Justin stayed home with both kids on Thursday, as Patrick has not really been quite himself ever since his fever that began on January 8th. We kept him home for good measure, which was a good thing, because he developed a fever that day too. I stayed home Friday, because although Will was fine throughout the day/evening on Thursday, the fever came back on Thursday night. This weekend, they've both been really tired but fever free. Will has very little appetite and some intestinal issues. The doctor told me Friday she thinks they have the flu, which this year is apparently characterized with a fever over 100.4 and a cough (which she laughed describes almost all her patients!). So, they seem better and we're planning on a normal week and hoping the fevers don't come back and that appetites return to normal. Poor kids! Oh...and poor daddy! Justin got sick Thursday too, which meant he was caring for two sick babies while being sick himself. Yuck!
My attendance at school has been terrible--4 days out in January already. Yikes...but oh well. I've been doing what I need to do for our family. But writing sub plans really does stink. Here's a glimpse into our sick house...what few pictures I have.
| A typical sick morning for Will. Pillows, blankets, and a little Sesame Street. |
| Since kids don't just lay around when sick, Will had lots of ideas about what he wanted to do. Making cookies was an obsession one day, so we did it. |

We're so glad to hear that your ALL on the mend!
It's never fun to be sick!
I certainly wish I could have been there to "pick up a shift"......

Sickness be gone!!!! As I type this, I just finished a major coughing fit! Just hoping that everyone doesn't come down with it... that is no fun! (though the pics are super cute...)
